Carapace Records — A Fun Musical Side Project

It started the way most good ideas do — over drinks, bad jokes, and someone saying "we should totally start a record label."

So we did.

Carapace Records is a fake-but-real record label run by a group of friends scattered across the world. A Confrérie des Crustacés Libres — where everyone picks a sea creature alter ego and contributes music under ridiculous artist names.

The motto? "On ne signe pas. On grave." (We don't sign, we engrave)

Because no self-respecting fake label operates without proper infrastructure, I built a full platform at carapacerecords.com — public catalogue, member zone with track uploads, a voting system (🦞 or 💩 — three lobster claws and your track goes public), WhatsApp notifications on every upload, artist profile pages with circular crop avatars...

Members earn crustacean ranks: 🦐 Shrimp → 🦀 Crab → 🦞 Lobster. Higher grades, more privileges. It's a meritocracy, but with claws.

Why? Because side projects with friends are the best kind. No clients, no deadlines, no "can you make the logo bigger."
